Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Rumored for August Launch
Samsung's next rugged smartwatch may feature a microLED display and 60-hour battery life.
Reliable leaker Ice Universe has shared details about the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and it sounds like a significant leap over the current model. The biggest change? A switch from AMOLED to microLED display technology.
MicroLED offers several advantages over OLED: higher brightness (reportedly 3,000 nits), better power efficiency, and no risk of burn-in. This would make the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 the first consumer smartwatch with a microLED panel.
Other reported specs include:
- New Exynos W1000 chipset with 2x GPU performance
- 60-hour battery life (up from 48 hours)
- Dual-frequency GPS for improved accuracy
- IP69K water and dust resistance
- New "Trek" outdoor mode with topographic maps
The current Galaxy Watch Ultra is already our top pick for Android users who want a rugged smartwatch. If these rumors pan out, the Ultra 2 could challenge the Apple Watch Ultra in every category.
Expected launch: August 2026 at Galaxy Unpacked. Estimated pricing: $699–$749.
