Apple Vision Pro Gets visionOS 3.0 With Spatial Personas
visionOS 3.0 brings spatial personas, Mac Virtual Display 2.0, and over 2,000 native spatial apps.
Apple has released visionOS 3.0, the biggest software update for Vision Pro since launch. The update brings several features that address the most common criticisms of Apple's spatial computing headset.
The headline feature is Spatial Personas — fully rendered 3D avatars that allow FaceTime participants to appear as if they're sitting across the table from you. Unlike the flat Persona in visionOS 1.0, these new avatars show full body movement and hand gestures.
Other major additions include:
- Mac Virtual Display 2.0 — now supports up to three virtual monitors with 5K resolution each
- Travel Mode improvements — works on trains and buses, not just planes
- Guest Mode 2.0 — guests can now save their eye and hand calibration
- Over 2,000 native spatial apps now available in the App Store
The Apple Vision Pro remains the most advanced mixed-reality headset you can buy, but at $3,499, it's firmly in "early adopter" territory. visionOS 3.0 makes the case significantly stronger.
